No More

Due to other interests and things that take up my time, I am giving up this blog.  I just haven't blogged like I thought I would.

Running

Well, I did it. I made a 10K this afternoon. It was mostly walking with some running, but the main thing is I made it all the way. It only took me 1 hour and 45 minutes. I am really tired tonight and will be in bed very shortly.

Work again tomorrow. Monday comes around way too soon.

Went to the Movies

Last night I went to the movies and saw a show on Blogging, Julie and Julia. When you combine blogging and cooking in one show, it was a very good show.

It got me to thinking about blogging and decided to see if I could find time to do a little more.
Thursday I found a bargain of a camera. I paid $45 for a 10.1 megapixal with extra batteries, an SD card and all the cords and books that came with it. Today I am playing with it and trying to learn more about it. Here are some sample pictures.

As you can see, it is just a test of the camera. I think it is a very good picture of Charlie, an OK one of a foot if that is your interest, a typical kitchen counter, and a very messy sewing room. One of the many things on my todo list is clean up and organize my sewing room.
Enough for now, I need to pay bills.

The Weekend

Here I am, home early on a Friday afternoon. I decided to spend a little time playing games and blogging on the computer before going up to sew and going to my doctor's appointment. I am also going to see my dear friend Barb who is home after 4 days in the hospital.

I am making lap quilts for 3 kids that lost everything in a house fire. I have 1 almost done, the fabric purchased for the second one and have no idea what to do for the 3rd. Girls are definitely easier to choose fabrics for than boys.

Problems

I have been having problems getting to the point so I could share my happenings. I work on computers for a living and this website was not working for me. Well here I am at last.

My latest quilting project is actually 3 in one. Three preteens, 1 boy about 11 or 12 and 2 girls, twins, age 9, lost their home a few weeks ago. I am in the process of making them each a lap quilt. I will try to remember to do pictures when I get them done.

The latest other thing in my life is running. My daughter challenged me to do a 10k with her then end of September. It has been so humid that it has been very hard to run. Wish me luck.

Changes

Things are changing in my method of doing things. I have decided this blog will come first and then some of the other things I do on line. I will start tonight with my adventures in to running.

Sunday Evening

Ok, I have a new challenge to myself. "I will blog at least 1 time each week." Sometimes it is hard to keep up with everything on my plate.

This week we leave on Wednesday for Annual Conference, be back on Sunday. Then we leave on 6/19 for a family reunion in Las Vegas. What fun that will be!
I would like to introduce Charlie. Chalies is my 3 year old labradoodle. He is laying on a quilt I made for my spouse, Yellow Brick Road pattern.
He keeps me company on long car rides and kept my feet warm this winter when quilting or sleeping.
As I get more practice at this I will try to include more pictures and introduce our other 2 dogs. It is about time for bed. Tomorrow is another busy work day.

Away for a long time

It seems like I have been away for a long time. I left on Thursday, 3/19 right after work to go to the Dakotas Walk to Emmaus. I got back from that late Sunday and went to work on Monday morning. Yesterday (Tuesday) I had to spend the night in Watertown for my job and worked a 12 hour day. I am ready for the weekend.

We (Frank & I) are going to the show in a few minutes. He wants to see Taken and it is on at the local theatre. It looks like a decent show, so I will report on it.

Besides spending time with Charlie (my labra-doodle) and Frank (my spouse), I also like to quilt and read. I will try to include some pictures of Charlie, Frank & my quilts in the future.

I am currently working on a bedspread quilt for my son Paul and his new wife Tami. It is a challenge since I am quilting each row as I add it to the quilt and doing it on my Brother Pacesetter PS2500, just a regular sewing machine. I haven't been able to work on it for a week now, so I am anxious to get back to it and get it finished.

I better close for now and get ready for the show.

Thoughts on a Friday Night

The work week is over and the weekend is here. That means something very different in a house with a pastor than it does in most houses. Saturday for the pastor is a day of rest and preparation for Sunday and Sunday is a day of work.

This has been quite a week. On Wednesday, I had 2 tests, an MRI and an EMG For about 2 months I have been having a numbness in my upper left thigh and the doctors were hunting for the cause. The thought before the tests was a pinched nerve, but the question was where? The tests, show no pinched nerve, just an inflammed nerve. Treatment options were cortizone shot, pills, or both. I elected the 7 day dose pack. For those unfamiliar with that, it is 7 pills the first day, then 6, then 5, then 4, etc. Only time will tell if I have a shot sometime in the furture. The doctor says it is not something that will get worse without treatment, so I will just wait & see.

Enjoy the weather for the next few days. I AM going to get my car cleaned out and washed. It is a real MESS.

How to Begin

This is a first for me. I have considered doing it for a long time, but today I decided to go for it. I don't know how often I will post, but hope to continue. Please feel free to give me feedback on my posts.
